Tips to TELLing a good story

Following the below tips will help your story and engage the audience.

  • Stories are told, not read. Notes are not allowed on stage.

  • Stories must be about you. You should be the focus and one of the main characters

  • TELL a story that has a cohesive beginning, middle, and end. A good story is not a stand-up routine, or anecdotes strung together

  • A good story has some stakes included in it. (What happens if you break up with that person? What will happen if you disobey your Mom?)

  • Practice your story. The William TELL gives you 7 minutes. You should stay within that timeframe. If you find yourself going over, focus on only the main points of the story.
